For those interested in participating, check http://www.deepimpact.umd.edu/amateur/ BTW, anyone interested in observing Deep Impact from a remote site, I plan to be at my cabin and observe there. There is a fair amount of space there and a great view to the south. There is also space for several tents for those wishing to stay over night. The impact is at 11 PM MST on 3 July. I'll be there the whole weekend. The site is located on Spruce Mountain (~7,500') 4 miles south of Prescott. Access is via a 4 mi dirt road up the mountain. While 2X4 vehicles have no problem in good weather, some areas are rough. I make it in and out all the time with my 2X4 Frontier Pickup. Anyone interested, drop me a note.
