Yep, but it all definitely reveals the stupidity of one person working at that
place, and I have a suspicion that at this time that one person is sort of
running the show as it stands right now. But all get rewards, they may not all
be good ones though.

I agree, the funny thing is that Amanda contemplated sending them a message
withdrawing her name from consideration. So, by no means should they feel
like Amanda would feel awkward working there for a week to gain some
experience off of them. If it had worked out that she worked there the week
it would have been a win win for both the firm and Amanda. They would have
had the position filled and Amanda would have gained some experience in the
field she is wanting to go into.

Well it sounds like with their attitude, it might be best that she not work
for them actually. Sounds like trouble down the line.

Oh, an ironic thing occurred just the other day. Amanda still is in the hunt
for a job and a staffing agency thought in order to get her out there they
could get her temp work here and there and that would not only get her some
exposure, but also would assist in getting her some experience. Well, she
hada week long temp position that she was supposed to work next week at a
law firm doing their reception while the receptionist is on vaca. Well, if
you read below I mention a law firm that she went and interviewed at, one
that disguised their position by saying document production instead of what
it really was, collections. Well, lo and behold the agency that needed the
temp was the firm she went and interviewed at. Instead of giving her a
chance and seeing what her work is like. They told the temp agency that they
needed someone else because it would be uncomfortable since she had
interviewed with them. Of course it was the “bad cop” that said this to the
temp agency. The temp agency thought it was ludicrous and tried to talk them
into going ahead and working with her and they said well would it not be
uncomfortable for her. They apparently do not realize that Amanda sees work
as work and a paycheck is a paycheck. She is not doing a job to make
friends. I am glad that they decided to go with someone else for the temp
position, but I thought it was a bit childish. She recorded the interview
unknowingly to the interviewee and I listened to it. She was professional
and I am the worlds worst for critiqueing and finding places for
improvement, but honestly I had nothing to say about this particular
interview when I listened to it.

I agree with the unheard or minimized comment. I am reading a book right now
that points out that people want to feel important. Many times if people who
complain are talked to and given some credit it would chill them out.
However, I still although I am trying to change my way of thinking find that
constant complaining is dreadful and a real drain. So, I know that I do
complain sometimes and I have even told you all many times about the
incidents where I have had to complain and argue in order to get the
accommodations that I need. We like to disguise it as advocating, but
nonetheless it is complaining to try and bring about change. I do not know
how to really describe the type of complaining that I am speaking of though
until I hear it. When I hear it, I go on the defense. I think it is
complaining that seems like it is attacking me that I hate with a passion.
Oh, the book, it is called “How to Win Friends and Influence People”. Amanda
has went on 3 interviews this week. One interview was at a construction
company doing reception work, another one was Admin Assistant for a
distributing company, and today’s was a law firm that disguised the position
as document production.

Construction Company:
Emailed Amanda today letting her know htat they decided to go with someone
else. I hope she emails them back to see where she needs to improve. It
seems like she can get the interviews, but when it comes to closing the deal
someone else has more experience or something. She always asks prior to
leaving the interview if there are any reservations that they may have. The
construction company said no. The guy interviewing her said that she
interviews well.
Distributing Company:
Everything seemed to go well with the distributing company interview. Again
they said no reservations.
Law firm:
Amanda said it was a good cop/ bad cop atmosphere. One guy was real laid
back and asked questions and showed a genuine interest. The other guy he was
criticizing her at every turn. I said the position was disguised because she
goes in thinking she is going to be working in a law office doing law office
things, but they want her to do collections. Amanda is not keen on the idea,
nor have they offered her the job. She asked them if there was room for
growth. Bad cop spoke up and said that if he hires her for collections then
she will grow in collections, but even though she has the qualifications to
be a paralegal he said he will not move someone from collections over to
personal injury paralegal positions because they have to have a particular
set of qualifications in order to do paralegal work. I am thinking he is
clueless because she has graduated with her paralegal degree which is
clearly stated on the resume. Amanda said she had to bite her tongue in the
interview due to the way this guy was acting. She has already sent out the
thank you card for meeting with her, but she is considering withdrawing her
resume from consideration. If she is already clashing with the supervisors
it probably is not the place for her.

As she was getting ready to head out the door, another potential employer
gave her a call requesting that she come in for an interview. So, if you all
will please keep this in your prayers. She goes in for this interview on
Monday. The interview will be with the City of Knoxville. She has not taken
the Civil Service Test for this particular position, but she has taken a
Civil Service Test and scored 90 on the written portion of the exam and
typed without error 60 words per minute for another City position.

Criticizing someone who we feel is boasting or bragging is judgmental as
well though, it's a fine line. We don't know what's going on with them that
they are acting out or trying to get across a point because they feel
unheard of minimized. I agree with the premise, but criticism can also be
judgment.

Pet peeves of mine:

1). Being too far away from Heather and Selah.
2). Pepsi is too delicious and not at all good for me...so of course I want
it!
3). Potato chips used to be 16 oz. per bag, now they are barely 10 oz.
4). Wanting to buy a new car for the first time in my life (mine is 15
years old) and having NO idea they now cost over $25,000.

agreed, I hate when people boast or brag. I try not to boast. It shows
cockiness. And selfishness is never good. Should add those to the list.

Ok, originally I thought well I do not have many pet peeves, but then I
got to thinking about it and I had more than what I had originally thought.
1. Talking in paragraphs. Take a breather so others can speak.
2. I agree with Stacey, complaining all the time gets old.
3. The entitlement attitude drives me insane.
4. When people talk only about themselves. I understand you love yourself,
I love myself too, but c'mon *LOL*.

Hey Everyone,

Seeing Josh started a couple fun things for all of us to get to
know one another, I thought I'd bring up a topic, pet peaves. What are
those things that really drive u crazy? I'll list my pet peaves below.
1. Judgmental people. I hate people who judge me or others without knowing
the whole story. I feel u have no room to judge if u haven't been judged
yet. This is my number 1 pet peave. I broke up with one of my exes because
she judged me. I make it clear to anyone I get to know, u judge me, or
anyone I care about, we're history.
2. Constant complaining and ragging. OK, I know sometimes we need to let
off some steam. I'm no exception. But constantly complaining and ragging
day in, day out is really irritating. It's like seriously? Don't u have
anything better to do?
3. Drama. I hate drama of any kind, especially in a relationship. I had
another ex girlfriend who loved to start drama. That relationship ended
with a bang.
4. Jealousy. I hate jealousy. Can't people be humble for a change?
Seriously. Why is it that people have to have what others have? That ties
in with drama.
5. This may seem silly, but that's why this is in the number 5 position.
People misspelling my name. It's amazing how many ways people think of
spelling Stacey. Most people spell it Stacy, but I've also had Stacie,
Staci, u name it. But most of the time people forget the E. It drives me
crazy. My name is spelled Stacey. There is an E before the Y. It's not
Stacy or Stasie or any other variation. It's Stacey!

OK so those are my pet peaves. What are yours?
