Remember, like we recently spoke to another topic about, you could tell jaws to specifically stick to using a specific device/output?

Not sure it would help at all, but, you never know?

And, again, think it was jaws context menu, utilities, sound cards, and then instead of necessarily letting it stay checked to use windows default, you can make it specifically use a specific unit/device for jaws output, etc.?

Stay well

Hi, and thank you David and Jacob for responding. David, I was able to go into volume control and change the in and outgoing device to USB as this cord is supposed to be an external sound card. I'm using Windows XP and Jaws 13 and have downloaded the latest version of Audacity. When I plug in this Lightsnake cord to my USB port I can no longer hear Jaws through my speakers but have to plug in a set of headphones to monitor the sound. I don't mind this at all except for the delay I get through the headphones. I tried changing the latency in the menues but that didn't work at all. Is this what one would expect from any USB interface? I would be interested to know how others connect mics to their computers as most sound really clear like Gene's tutorial. Thanks a bunch for any advice and have a great day.

Hi Steve,
which version of windows are you using, and which settings in windows have you changed to be able to hear the microphone though your headphones?

David.

I wasn't sure if I had posted a subject that was
off topic because no one responded, and appologize if that's the case, but I thought it was a relevant question as I am using Audacity to record my project. I thought I had seen a thread on this list referring to ASIO drivers and am wondering if this is that what I should be researching as far as hearing my voice through headphones at the same time I'm speaking into a microphone hooked to a USB interface? Any response would be really helpful; even (shut up and get
on topic) would help at this point. Thank you.

Hi folks, Steve here. I'm getting up the nerve to start a project and just purchased a Lightsnake USB to XLR cord to allow me to use a fairly good microphone. I've finally got the sound set up and can here it through my headphones but it has a delay. Does anyone know how I can set this thing to here what I'm saying at the time I'm saying it? This delay thing really throws me off and I know there's a way to eliminate it. Thanks in advance for any suggestions. By the way, I've been collecting all of your excellent advice to use as a quick reference guide for Audacity but don't think I've seen this installment. Thanks and take care.
Steve
