Thanks Gene for responding. As I said in my last post, I was impressed at the clarity of your tutorial and wondered how you have your set up connected. Do you use a small mixing board connected to your computer or another device that may plug in with a regular pin plug? I know this does not have to do directly with Audacity but does involve an Audacity project. Thanks and take care.

I know almost nothing about the topic and the tiny bit I know I learned by doing a Google search or two. I would ordinarily not comment on this topic but since you receive so little response, I will. I have not seen the term no latency used when such drivers are discussed. I have only seen the term low latency used. That implies that, whatever you do with these drivers, there will be a delay, even if it is a very small one. Since these drivers are specifically intended to reduce latency, it would appear likely that it cannot be eliminated when using a USB microphone. I have no idea if the latency you get with the drivers would be enough to bother you or cause problems when you listen while recording. You can experiment and find out. If it is not satisfactory, you can use a microphone that is not a USB microphone and set your sound card to play the audio from that microphone. There should be no latency if you do so or no audible latency. Since I know almost nothing about this subject, I may be wrong and you may find that you can get such low latency that it won't matter. but what I've written here may lead to more comments from others that may be useful. Re: monitoring your projects using USB interface I wasn't sure if I had posted a subject that wasoff topic because no one responded, and appologize if that's the case, butI thought it was a relevant question as I am using Audacity to record my project. I thought I had seen a thread on this list referring to ASIO drivers and am wondering if this is that what I should be researching as far as hearing my voice through headphones at the same time I'm speaking into a microphone hooked to a USB interface? Any response would be really helpful; even (shut up and get on topic) would help at this point. Thank you. I'm getting up the nerve to start a project and just purchased a Lightsnake USB to XLR cord to allow me to use a fairly good microphone. I've finally got the sound set up and can here it through my headphones but it has a delay. Does anyone know how I can set this thing to here what I'm saying at the time I'm saying it? This delay thing really throws me off and I know there's a way to eliminate it. Thanks in advance for any suggestions. By the way, I've been collecting all of your excellent advice to use as a quick reference guide for Audacity but don't think I've seen this installment.
