That should of course read "phones".

I rarely use the phones output on my 2i2, but if the same channel kept
blowing I'd suspect that one of the following has happening:

1) I was getting deaf in that ear so was winding up the level.

2) DC on that output

3) Ultrasonic garbage on that output
