Hmmm. I can't say I have, Dave. What I found though that the vibrators go off when the tip of the cane physically hit a crack in the pavement. I sometimes hold the cane off the ground while walking; not very wise thing to do :-)

Cheers,
Amro

Hi Amro,

Have you found, as I have, the UltraCane's ultra Sonics, do not work
very well at detecting round objects such as posts and cones.

Cheers

Yes. I own one and I think it's a great idea. However, its design and
its actual manufacturing leave a lot to be desired. It's little too big
and I would much prefer it if it was designed as a small device that can
be attached to your normal cane. I really hope that someone develops it
to be a more robust device because, in my Experience, it makes a
different in mobility. As the Ultra cane stands now its price should
perhaps comes down a little to make it affordable to more people as it's
unlikely that one can get fund from whatever institution to buy it. Now
imagine this sonar device was equipped with a GPS navigator, built in
GPS receiver and Bluetooth. They can charge then whatever they see fit
and many people would be happy to pay I think! Just my thoughts.

Cheers,
Amro

and it was really heavy and bulky as well for regular use. I wish they

could invent some thing much more stream lined and less unobtrusive.

Hi, I tend to agree with that. It was a great idea that worked really

well for a few people. People that couldn't afford it or didn't like
the sound
of
it didn't engage with the evaluation process so they thought
everybody
would
love it. I actually don't think it was over priced, I just think the
value it brings is not worth that for the majority of people.
Evaluators need to remember that to make a product work, they need to

conquer people's fears and make sure those it initially doesn't suit
well are converted. They
need
to work out who will drive initial sales andwho the volue purchasers
will
be
and cater for both.

Cheers
Dave
