If I'm correct there was even an e-mail sent out to the access uk list
so you must have received it.
However maybe you could still contact the talking book library to
inquire whether you can be part of the project being a talking book
member already?
I'm sure RNIB's talking book team will do all to help

Here here Barry with regard to not being contacted about the new talking
book machine. No, do not give it a thought, cancelling and re-joining,
you will not get one of these new machines. Not sure what their
criteria will be but something like a new member will get what is
available on the day it is being sent out to them. I am simply
interested in finding other members who like myself missed this
opportunity of entering into the pilot scheme.

I'm a member and this is the first I have heard of it. However,
I haven't had time to read 'Read on', so I am at fault there.
I was contacted by the talking library some months ago, but it
was just to see how I rated the current service - No mention of the new
talking book machine.
It's a shame that only new members are eligible. I suppose we
could cancel then re-join.

I am wondering how many members on this list use the RNIB
Talking Book Library and ow many of those members were contacted about
the new type of Talking Book machine which can be used with USB Flash
Drive. I understand that there is a pilot going on at present with
regard to this machine but equally I understand that no existing member
of the library will be entitled to one of these new books, only new
members will receive them. For those of you in the pilot, what do you
think of the machine and out of interest did the Talking Book Library
contact you directly about this pilot scheme or did you hear about it
through Read-on, the Talking Book Library CD sent out to members.
