And it's online for anyone to see. Had it been the March New Product Guide, they might have had a point. There has never been any mention at any time of a closing date.

Well, I have an email from RNIB to that effect. also, when I tried topurchase the PTX1 from the RNIB Online shop, there was no mention about thefree one year membership to the Streaming service, so I joined the Bookstream club and have not as yet purchased a PTX1. I have just emailed RNIB asking them to confirm that the information I wasgiven two weeks ago is correct, and pointing out that their advertisement inthe May new product guide is therefore incorrect. Watch this space. This new player replaces the popular Plextalk PTN1 and heralds a new phase in the development of Daisy. It is similar in size and shape to its predecessor but the button size and layout has been changed, making them easier to distinguish and more intuitive to use. A USB port and SD memory card slot provide users with access to a wider range of reading material. The built-in memory provides an electronic bookshelf where users can storetheir favourite content, and it comes with a 12 month subscription to RNIB'sBookStream book club. It also has a text-to-speech programme which further expands the range of content that can be accessed. I cannot see how it can be claimed that the offer is closed. I tried to buy thePTX1 together with one year's subscription to the Bookstream Book club butwas told that this offer had now closed. I therefore just joined the Bookstream club for £50.Having said that, I read last week in New Products that the offer is still advertised. If I find that it is still current, I will be most displeasedwith RNIB. You might be interested to know, that the RNIB sells the player in combination with the 1 year subscribtion for the rnib booksite/bookclub for £195 too Just thought I'd let you know, Madleen -----Original Message----- From: access-uk@xxxxxxxxxxxxx [mailto:access-uk@xxxxxxxxxxxxx] On Behalf Of Barry Hill Sent: 06 May 2009 16:42 To: access-uk@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Subject: [access-uk] Re: Talking Book Library Hi EleanorI'm a member and this is the first I have heard of it. However, I haven'thad time to read 'Read on', so I am at fault there.I was contacted by the talking library some months ago, but it was just tosee how I rated the current service - No mention of the new talking book machine. It's a shame that only new members are eligible. I suppose we could cancel then re-join. I understandthat there is a pilot going on at present with regard to this machine but equally I understand that no existing member of the library will be entitled to one of these new books, only new members will receive them. For those ofyou in the pilot, what do you think of the machine and out of interest didthe Talking Book Library contact you directly about this pilot scheme or didyou hear about it through Read-on, the Talking Book Library CD sent out tomembers.
