Hi Tony,

Actually, a better reboot method is to unplug it as you say, then plug =
it
in, and while turning the mains on, hold down the backup button on the
machine, not the remote. This is more like a cold reboot.

All the best

Yes! Unplugging the mains lead is a very good way of sorting most of =
the
problems that occur with Sky boxes of any type. Leave it unplugged for
about two minutes. When you turn it back on again it will always come =
back
on on channel 998 and you will to have to reset it to the channel that =
you
want it on, but the fault that you are trying to cure has usually gone.

We always use the recording features heavily as Angela can see enough to =
use
them. We have pretty much maxed out our Sky plus box quite a lot. We =
phoned
the technical help desk once as we weren't getting our free space back, =
and
they took us through an accessible way of sorting it out, well, for =
Angela
anyway. We occasionally have to unplug it so that it can reset itself, =
but
that's about it. I know other people have had problems with sky plus =
boxes,
but I suspect the fixes we did would have worked for most people, and
unplugging the mains lead now and again helps, and all data is saved.

Cheers
Dave

Hi Folks,

I don't want to throw a spanner in the works here because it does sound =
as
though Sky are getting it together; but I thought I'd just draw your
attention to the fact that Watchdog have received loads and loads of
complaints about the Sky boxes. One person has had eleven in all and
another seven! It may be of course that this comes about when you set a
number of recordings for later, which presumably most blind people don't =
do
right now.

Anyway, just thought I'd pass it on. Hopefully they'll have it all =
sorted
soon!
