Hi listers,

I don't think there is an way of defining the download format in
Get_Iplayer; WMA format is pretty reasonable and is playable through many
media players.

Hth,

Mike

alternatives

Hello, Henry.
I'm sorry, but I know of no guide to download the programs in MP3 directly.
Personally, I have never bothered with this, simply because the files are
downloaded in M4A, which is a container for AAC. AAC is what the BBC sends
out, and changing one lossy format to another reduces audio quality. In any
case, AAC is a better format than MP3 in all things except compatibility,
and is supported by the vast majority of players. You can, if you want MP3,
use something like CDEX or NCH's Switch application to change the format to
MP3. There may also be a way to do this in get_iplayer itself, but I'm not
sure how this can be done.
Sorry to be a broken reed on this.
Aman
