Hi John

But five years for occasional use is poor in my book.

Kind Regards,

You were lucky. to get five years usage. My talking L~G 900W microwave only
lasted 2 and a half years for a family of one and then the insides were
rotting and the electrics packed up!

By the way, I also usually, these days, opt for a two dial manual microwave.
However, I have just replaced an old oven with a new partly manual, partly
electronic Russell Hobs Model RHM2017 20L 800W microwave and it only cost
£59 from Morrisons. This one is black in colour but I assume that they do
different colours.

I can use it OK, after a little practice and someone telling me what was
going on on the screen when pressing buttons. The microwave has four round
buttons in a square for Powr Level, Weight/Defrost, Stop/Pause and Clock
set/timer. Under these there is a long oblong button for Start/Confirm and
under that a dial to select cooking time/weight to defrost, clock setting
time, etc. You can select cooking times as low as
5 seconds and up to 95 minutes. There is also a quick-cook button which,
when pressed, starts cooking for 30 seconds on high and a further 30 seconds
for each subsequent press up to a maximum of 12 minutes. If you press the
Start/Confirm button once it will start cooking for 30 seconds on high and
for a further 30 seconds for each subsequent press up to a maximum of 12
minutes. All buttons beep when pressed.

There is a full online user manual in PDF format (which, naturally, does not
render well enough to be as useful as it should be) and I have written for
myself a short user manual for my own quick reference but, after two weeks
use, I no longer need to consult this.

If any one decides to buy one of these microwaves and wants a copy of my
quick user notes, just ask and I'l attacha copy to an email for you.

John.
