I think Akai is Samsung. If it's samsung. Replace both STKs with OEM Sanyo and check for cooked 150 ohm and 3.9 ohm resistors. If still bad red most likely bad digital convervence module (loc on signal board) ICs will likely run hot even after it's repaired and set up.
