Which can be accomplished by going from battery to fuse panel -- then from
fuse panel to switch, like every other car out there. That reduces the
number of big wires connected to the light switch by 1 and stops passing
ALL of the electricity required by fused stuff from passing through an
extra connector at the switch. Ever worked on a Bug with a loose wire at
the headlight switch that had a stock radio installed? Dangerous.

That's what confuses me about why VW did it that way.
