That is one of the *MOST* idiotic things that VW did and I can't figure out
and I will be changing when I get to a full rewire stage.

*ALL* main power to the front goes through the headlight switch. The
positive power line that runs from the alternator/battery up to the front
to provide 12V to the fue panel goes to the light switch -- from there it
is jumpered over to the fuse panel. That's about bass ackwards. It puts 2
big #10 wires on the light switch that don't need to be there and creates
an additional point of possible failure.

Oh well, glad you got it straight. When The Paint Bus was dying like tat it
was because the bakelite cover on the starter solenoid was cracked and
causing the wires to loosen up at random times.
