You know, a big lot of you state how much you dislike the All Breeds for one
reason or another, but let me tell you, whether you show there or not, there
is, in my opinion, no better place to learn more about SEVERAL breeds than at
an All Breed!
There are one or two specialties in Wisconsin for Shepherds in a year, and I
have to take a good drive to get to them. There are SEVERAL All Breed shows
in Wisconsin during the spring and summer, and I only need drive 10 minutes to
2 hours to get to them.
For people who want to learn more about breeds, but can't drive 4+ hours to
get to a specialty, or that may MISS the two specialties that are held for that
year for one reason or another, the All Breeds are a great place.
And no, perhaps a Beagle judge can't appreciate the movement of our breed,
but then again, perhaps we can't appreciate a proper earset on a Beagle, that
is
needed to funnel scent to the nose, or perhaps we can't appreciate a proper
cat-foot on a nicely built Doberman, and perhaps the Doberman judge can't
appreciate the full mouth on one of our Shepherds because the bite is slightly
off.
Either way, for the newbies (who we MUST think about), if they do not have
the option of attending a GSD specialty, the All Breed is an intregal part of
getting them interested.
