Its clear to me now (pending a few more rolls) that the wind mechanism is absolutely fine wrt to 'measurement' of the frame advance - if I take care to move the crank back to the click/ lock I'm confident I won't get improperly spaced frames. However whats not too hot is the fact that the shutter seems to be enabled somewhat short of the full crank. I guess its unlikely that this is an FX feature and more likely a problem specific to my camera. Any idea how the shutter was triggered (or rather synched to the rewind) on the previous or current 'flex generation? I could probably live with this flaw but if its a simple mechanism a repair probably wouldn't be too expensive. All of the crank-wind Rollei cameras work the same way. The shutter is cocked in the first part of the wind. It _must_ work this way because the displacement of the crank varies with the diameter of the take up spool. That is, the amount one must wind the crank to move the film one frame becomes shorter as one progresses toward the end of the roll. The amount the crank must be turned to cock the shutter must be less than the minimum amount it will ever turn to wind one frame of film. The backward motion does nothing. It is a convenience to be able to have the crank back a the neutral postion where it can be folded down if desired. If you make a habit of winding the crank until it stops you will not have any problems with mis-spaced frames, at least unless some mechanical problem develops (which it might in forty or fifty years). -- Richard Knoppow dickburk@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Los Angeles, CA, USA --- Rollei List - Post to rollei_list@xxxxxxxxxxxxx - Subscribe at rollei_list-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx with 'subscribe' in the subject field OR by logging into www.freelists.org - Unsubscribe at rollei_list-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx with 'unsubscribe' in the subject field OR by logging into www.freelists.org - Online, searchable archives are available at //www.freelists.org/archives/rollei_list
