ah, that would explain my difficulties.  The files I'm usually dealing with 
come as attachments from both of the companies I work for.

Good morning Suzanne,

Some files are scanned either in PDF or Word.  Some of these files can be
found on the web or if you get one that the screen reader indicates an empty
file, but everyone tells you there is text, then you will know it is a
scanned file and Jaws won't read it regardless what format it is.
