Hi there,
Have you heard of System Access? That's really good as well and also fyi you
do not pay for updates, yes, they are free! It's also cheaper too in case
you are on a budget. Go to www.serotek.com for more information. My husband
and I both have it and are very thankful.

I can't speak to the newest versions of either Window-Eyes or JAWS. I
started as a WE user back when it first came out, and I was one of the beta
testers for a number of years. I ended up switching to JFW at some point out
of necessity at work, but I continued to use WE at home. Ultimately, I ended
up going 95% JFW and kept WE around for those occasions where it worked
better. I have a much more difficult time switching from JFW to WE than I
did the other way round.

I was all set to pull the trigger on an upgrade to latest version of
Window-Eyes; then I learned that they completely re-worked the user
interface. Now the WE upgrade is on hold. So why was I thinking of switching
back to Window-Eyes if I think JFW is easier to use out of the box? GW Micro
has a payment plan.

The upshot is that I think it will be easier for you to move from
Window-Eyes to JAWS rather than vice versa. You already have WE, so the
prudent thing to do is put it through its paces. If it does what you want,
then stick with it. If not, then consider the move to JAWS. Altervatively,
do what many others have done and get both.

Hi, Glenn:
Thanks for your reply, with your suggestions about helping me get WE to work
properly for me. Here's how things stand now: my computer guy put in a brand
new sound card, which didn't make any difference, but then he de-activated
(right word?) some unessential programs, and the sound issue now seems to be
resolved.
I did check the display resolution, and it's set to the highest resolution.
I also put the fonts to the default size. But this didn't make any
difference; the fonts are still affected when I turn WE on.
As far as e-mail is concerned, it seems that my version of WE is
incompatible with the newer versions of Thunderbird, so I'm kind of out of
luck there.
In regard to WE versus JFW, I haven't been using WE long enough to become
really familiar with the keyboard commands, so I could quite comfortably
change to JFW.
