You well could be right. Since it was new, I suspected that that secondary controller wasn't connected. There might even be something in CMOS that needs to be changed. -----Original Message----- From: real-eyes-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx [mailto:real-eyes-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx] On Behalf Of Reginald George Sent: Monday, February 13, 2012 12:00 PM To: real-eyes@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Subject: [real-eyes] Re: USB ports Hi Mitchell, I know she needs at least 4. 2 for her broad band modem which has no Ethernet support, and an external sound card, and 2 for keyboard and mouse. Each set of ports is on a different controller in Device manager. I, like you, suspect a hardware problem, but I was hoping maybe just one of the controllers was disabled or not installed properly. -----Original Message----- From: Mitchell D. It is certainly worth checking the device manager before returning the system. Others have filled in that gap for me. I assumed you are on Windows 7, and I haven't used that OS, so wasn't sure exactly what steps to give you. Probably similar to XP but .... Who knows. On the other side, how many USB ports do you need? -----Original Message----- From: real-eyes-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx [mailto:real-eyes-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx] On Behalf Of Suzanne Carleton Sent: Monday, February 13, 2012 8:39 AM To: real-eyes@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Subject: [real-eyes] Re: USB ports thanks for all the info. i havent had a chance to look at devices yet.
