[real-eyes] Re: Windows Programs and Others

Office 2010 , word that is, saves in a file type as .DOCX and earlier
versions save in .DOC.
I can't imagine an editor wanting the 2010 format, as their 2010 will open
any older versions, and my brother -in-law has written more than a dozen
books, he is getting his first published, and he did them in just plain
Word, and he had to do nothing special, that is why you pay an editor, to
edit.
I use Office 2003 at work, and I open my 200 stuff, and 2010 files all the
time, the conversion tool takes care of any converting.
I think you can write a book in MS DOS, and it would not be a problem.

Hi Mitch,

I like the way you put that. Very well said.

You said you are a writer and an editor, so given that fact, Office 2010 may
be an necessary evil. You will want to stay as compatible as possible with
filetypes visa via your publishers' standards. I haven't really used 2010
yet, but my experience has been that each new release of Office is a bit
less friendly than those it replaces. And what they are adding is a lot of
bloat that 99% of the World has very little use for.

Hi:
I want to thank everyone who offered their suggestions, recommendations and
ideas regarding screen readers. It's been a really big help for me.
After a lot of consideration, and looking at all your comments, I've decided
that I'm going to use Jaws with Office 2010 -- unless someone now screams,
"Oh, no! You're making a terrible mistake," and gives me good reason why
this is a bad choice. I've downloaded the Jaws demo, and I'm going to start
figuring out how to use it. Thanks to all of you.
Margaret
