To add to the thread, Shannon, I believe color transparency film has 5 stops of exposure lattitude, as Georges states. If you expose for your highlights and important shadow detail is greater than 5 stops below that, I have found that, just like silver based film, you can add about a stop of shadow by pre-exposing (flashing) your film.
