To add to the thread, Shannon, I believe color transparency film has 5 stops of 
exposure lattitude, as Georges states.
  If you expose for your highlights and important shadow detail is greater than 
5 stops below that, I have found that, just like silver based film, you can add 
about a stop of shadow by pre-exposing (flashing) your film.
  How to do this has been discussed here before, but I can find the details if 
you need.

Hi Shannon !
Yes, and bear in mind that above 5 stop of sBR you will begin to loose 
something. So if shadows are important, .....
BTW, I do not think this is so off topic, as it is silver imaging, after all
