Thanks for all the additional comments. The 3200 I've been running isn't mine nor do I have any info from the clients as the film is just handed to me and I'm told to run at 3200. For the 3200 I've been getting I've used t-max 1:4 with mixed results. That said, the film could have been very old or the shooter inexperienced but I did notice some higher than what I expected B+F as well as thinner looking negs esp. in one case. It was probably underexposed by at least a stop. So if I were dealing with film from a known source where I could give direct feedback and knew when this same client has brought more of the same, then I could have some controls and move into other developers. As these films aren't coming to me from from my usual stable of shooters, I decided t-max would work as a good all-around developer as well as being on hand instead of having to buy another type. ________________________________ From: RobC <ps@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx> To: pure-silver@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Sent: Wednesday, September 2, 2009 12:28:47 AM Subject: [pure-silver] Re: Delta 3200 Processing recs. I did some testing of this film fairly recently and what I found was that it designed and marketed for use with Microphen developer. If you expose at 3200 and then develop in Microphen Stock for 9mins @ 20degC, then you will get 3200 speed from it. It will give 4 stops below and 4 stops above metered. So a true 3200 speed film when used with Microphen as per Ilfords instructions. It's quite grainy at that speed. Once you start using other developers, the speed drops very quickly. The next best for speed with much improved grain is DDX 1+4 15mins @ 20degC. This will give you 4 stops below metered and 5 above when exposed using 1600. Grain is much better than with Microphen. Others developers I tried only gave around 800 speed. I think you would get better results pushing delta 400 to 800 than trying to use delta 3200 at 800 but each to his own...
