Yeah, I was being a bit hyperbolic -- 'lean' or 'haggard' could be
poetically applied to eyes, just like 'dangerous' is -- but stringing all
three together read really wrongly to me. But 'face' fits both adjectives,
and the context, perfectly well. It looks even more like a simple missing
word when you drop the serial comma that PA added. :-)
