If you believe you're going to be better off with more than 2GB, then I would agree that the additional should be provided by two matched 512MB sticks of the same speed and rating as the 2GB set already installed. I have little that I can tell you about the old system except that the blinking lights and the noise you heard have nothing to do with the RAM. Clicking noises usually indicate a failing fan, storage drive or power supply. It could also be that a cable has fallen into a fan and is getting whacked every time a fin passes by. Of course, that would produce a rather rapid fire clicking sound that would likely scare the bubbles out of anyone. ;0} Peace, Gman "The only dumb questions are the ones we fail to ask" ----- Original Message ----- From: "cristy" <poppy0206@xxxxxxx> To: <pctechtalk@xxxxxxxxxxxxx> Sent: Saturday, August 02, 2008 11:29 PM Subject: -=PCTechTalk=- Re: memory question > Im guessing now, my best bet may be to purchase another two sticks of 512 > mg > memory that is matched pair to add to what I have but should the speed be > the same as the sticks already installed? > > On the old computer, the computer "would" cut on at least one light I > recall > came on not the normal one though and a clicking sound I could hear too. > > Christine --------------------------------------------------------------- Please remember to trim your replies (including this sentence and everything below it) and adjust the subject line as necessary.
