Well, for example, if it is an HP machine and you find an entry for HP in
the startup folder, it may be best to leave it be.

Hi,
No, actually you are correct
msconfig, opens the system configuration utility.
You should uncheck anything you absolutely don't need to load at startup.
The only programs that should be running at startup,
are your security applications, and those that are required by your
particular system.
I would recommend updating all of your security software, disconnecting from
the internet, and running full security scans of your system, and full
maintenance.

If I am not mistaken, you can type in msconfig in the run box and click on
the start up tab and you will see what is starting at start up
