Hello Troth,
I've been busy with this from Sunday and still did not get it fixed. Tried
everything I can think of but don't know it anymore now.
I did that repair thing you send from "Lockergnome" they say it worked fine
for
Windows98SE, I have WindowsMe, so maybe that's why it did not work.
I downloaded Bigfix but that also did not do anything for me. I don't know
what to do to get it to work for the Windows update. I wrote the problem to
their technical- and WindowsMe site but never got an answer.
I went to Windows troubleshooter and the resolution was to re-register 4
files but already with the first file I had the following problem:
LoadLibrary ("msscript.ocx") failed. Get last Error returns 0x00000485. I
don't know what that means, the other 3 files I could load with no problem.
Than I went to the JS extension and changed it there. What also had to do
with the resolution of troubleshooter but I got: Cant find the program.
Check if the filename or the path are right.
I went to the Dutch and English newsgroups but also there the only answer I
got was to go to troubleshooter.
I tried to ask Microsoft Online Help but when I gave my ID they said with my
ID number, which has OEM in it, I have to go and ask my question to the
manufacturer of the computer. Which I find strange because this is a Windows
update problem. With my computer there is nothing wrong, until now -:)). I
went through the whole list CK gave from #1 till #7. Even deleted the whole
Windows update folder in Windows Explorer.
Nothing, nothing helped and now my only hope is that you can help me.
Sorry for the long story and I hope you still remember what it was all
about, otherwise if you don't know, I can send in the question again.
Sylvia....Holland.
