Sylvia, Here's the method I normally use. Note that this method assumes that there have been absolutely no messages downloaded onto the new system yet. If that's not the case, let me know and I'll show you how to get around it without losing your most recently downloaded email. 1. First, open up Windows Explorer and move all of those DBX files back out of the main OE dbx storage folder. Place them all in a new folder called something like "DBX Files" so they're easy to find later. 2. Next, recreate the folder tree from the old system manually (you only need to remake the ones that you had to make on the other system since the Inbox, Sent Items, Outbox, etc. will already be there). Be sure to open up each of them (just click on the folder to peek inside) to make sure OE creates a new .dbx file for them. This is a VERY important step! 3. Now move the files from the "DBX Files" folder above back into the main OE dbx storage folder. Each file should produce a warning asking if you're sure that you want to replace the one file with the other. Unless there's already messages stored in that particular folder (see the warning in the first paragraph), click on the Yes button. 4. Finally, take a peek into those new folders you made and you'll be looking at your old messages. 8^) Peace, G Man PCTechTalk Owner ----- Original Message ----- From: "Darryl" <minoddy@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx> To: <pctechtalk@xxxxxxxxxxxxx> Sent: Thursday, October 10, 2002 10:30 PM Subject: -=PCTechTalk=- Re: Please help with .dbx issue The dbx's you have copied, from the computer you wanted to keep them from. You have to from OE actually use the import function, other wise you end up the way it is now, so I found out a while back as well :) I usually just copy them to a temp folder, then from with in the OE your wanting to import them into , you go FILE / IMPORT / MESSAGES Choose the OE version that they came from, in the next thing that pops up, the go next and the next thing that comes up you select the dot box at the bottom, the one saying Import from store directory, the next thing that pops up is the browse to where the store directory is, navigate to where you put the dbx's and then next ,and by default it has import all checked. I just noticed that if they are OE 4, then that whole above process is shorter.....It only asks you to browse to where your dbx's are that you want to import.
