That is what I was doing , I was told formatting was erasing. By reading the other mail here it appears that you don;t format to erase, you just click on 'Erase'. It takes me 25--30 minutes to format, 5 minutes to erase. I have wasted hours formatting instead of erasing. They say there is no need to format a CD-RW . Thanks everyone for the info.
