Try uninstalling Acrobat and see if you still get .pdf icons. If not
re-install it and see if the problem returns.

I've had to paste things into notepad before to get them to 'erase' the
formatting so it would display right in Word.  I know this works.

But I didn't 'use to' have to do this step. Before, when I pasted to Word it
went to Word, not giving me that icon for pdf.  I was just wanting to know
how to get that to stop really.  (I did know that pasting to notepad would
erase the formatting and have done that many times before.)

Anyway, I guess I'll have to do this 'extra' step if someone can't come up
with what I can do to make the pdf file icon stop appearing.
