Jackie,

I did boot the CD with Ubuntu OK but the system locks up the computer 
after about 5 minutes.
Opened Firefox from the Applications bar. Did a google search for news 
and displayed the CNN page.
Then the system just locked up and I could not even shut it down without 
using the OFF button on the
Computer Case.  This main computer seems to be pretty fussy.  Vista Home 
Premium works great right now.
I may try Ubuntu from the boot CD sometime on my laptop where the 
attached hardware is not complex.
