Barrie,
I reinforced the crank pins (silver steel) on my Sweet Pea (cast iron
wheels) with 4BA socket grub screws. I thought drilling and tapping might be
a problem, but in practice it went fine.
I always prefer socket to slotted grub screws bcause they have less of a
tendancy to open out and jam.
