Crap. I screwed up. I always mix up these two screens cause they're the
same. F4 is the output settings, and F2 is the input settings.
So, you should change the fourth setting down on the F2 screen.

I was messing with the I O Stuff in utility mode last night, and hitting
f4 and going 4 down puts me in a spot where you can choose the effect
for each block. looks like both effects were set to none.
when I talk and turn the wheel, I can select all kinds of effects but it
doesn't activate the vocoder feature. I tried arrowing around in the
window and turing the wheel, but to no avail. I still must be missing
something.
