So," it is safe to say, "not to purchase the editors, yet until everything for the XS is complete including the vocorder right?

Normally, the A/D input is routed directly to the main mix. In order to hear the vocoder, you have to send the A/D input to the effects block. I'm sitting in an airport terminal right now, so don't have an XS to check, but I think that the setting that you need is in Utility mode, F4, and is the fourth one down from the top left. If you turn this all the way to the left, then that sends the A/D part to the main mix. As you click the data dial to the right, you'll hear the mic input cut out from the mix. These settings let you route the A/D input to the aux jacks, different mLAN channels in mono and stereo, etc. What you want, though, is to spend the knob all the way to the end of the list. Once you do that, the vocoder presets should work as you expected. By the way, don't forget to use the assignable knobs and assignable function buttons. The knobs, in particular, will tweka how the vocoder presets sound (shift formant, etc). The editors are a big help for building vocoder presets...well, at least the synth part. I don't think that the public version has editing support for the vocoder parameters yet. All of the effects are covered in the editors except for the vocoder. It will be in there shortly. Check it. I was under the impression that when you called up a voice like funky vocoder in voice mode, you just plugged in the mic and it worked. I have ran my cables from my mixer and can hear dry audio coming into the keyboard. However, no vocoder. I hear silence when I press the keys. I've looked in the manual, but it is giving instructions on how to set up a vocoder from scratch. I just want to play the factory default. Any thoughts? THanks so much.
