Do you mean that current R optics provide a larger circle than needed for the 35mm format?

Yes. The diagonal of a 24x36mm frame is 43.27mm ... so any lens capable of covering a 35mm format, must have an image circle greater than 43.3 mm. Thus, current optics would easily cover a 27mm by x36mm sensor.

This would destroy many claims made here that with 35mm format you use them to the full.

Well, you do, but there is a wee bit more in them!
