[LRflex] Re: Using the M6

An M is not practical for everything. For example, long lenses, macro, etc.
etc. BUT the immediacy of the picture-taking experience is right where it's at,
in my book. It's a semi-intellectual way of approaching the scene because you
don't see it exactly the way that the film does. On the other hand, that super
bright range-viewfinder makes low-light photography easy and when the tool is
preset, you can just aim and shoot before the moment evaporates.
anybody know whether Cartier-Bresson had ever used an M6 and what he might have
thought about it ? Of course, he had schooled himself to evaluate lighting
conditions and to set exposure in an intuitive manner. hence, he didn't need a
meter of any kind. Isn't it amazing how a tool often becomes the master,
requiring its own use, rather than a slave that merely answers to our needs ?
With the tools that we develop, do we often throw away some of our abilities,
just to accomodate them ?
Dave

An M camera is certainly not for everyone.  Though once you are hooked, you
get disgusted with all the buttons and controls on other cameras, and how
hard it is to turn things off.
I shoot an M8 now, almost always on manual
