in the past there have been numerous patches by a couple of developers 
(see the gpsd patch). and i included of course all of them into kismac. 
i do not see the stability problems either, because i review all of the 
patches and there is currently no cvs (since my server harddrive 
crashed...).
the problem is that there are not too many mac programmers with 
knowledge and time, so patches are rare.
