Hmm, I thought that as a service meant that it was loaded from the registry
somewhere. Anyway, the fact is, that it isn't talking and she must unload
it, and then load it again for it to speak.
Thanks for ideas. She's frustrated by it not speaking, and all those steps
she must do ... etc. :)

Hi all, when a programme runs as a service, it runs before Windows
even logs
you into your account should you have a log in dialogue box. This is
why
JAWS and any other commercial screen reader can speak or braille
from within
the Windows log on dialogue box. This is not the case when a
programme runs
from the startup group, as these are executed after Windows is
loaded and
you're on the desktop. FYI, the startup group is the startup folder,
found
under Start Menu, All Programmes, Startup. Hope this helps.
