Absolutely. Aside from the truly awful Microsoft help, Excel is
probably a lot like whatever spreadsheet you learned on. In fact, in
some basic ways, it's easier. You may never have to write a formula
again, given the number available in the program. What you want to do
sounds fairly straight forward.
If you like, you can create a quick and dirty spreadsheet in Excel, and
then import it to Word, where you can massage it a bit.
