Hi,
Here's a useful tip for navigating within the spreadsheet.

After you've created your column headings, in row 1, for example, place your cursor anywhere in row 1 and go into Verbosity with insert+v. Then arrow down to the line item that reads "set column titles to row range". It will say "undefined". Press the space bar to set it to 1 and press enter to exit the dialog. The workbook settings will be saved. From then on, you can freely navigate through the spreadsheet and know which column you're in at all times, assuming, of course, that the column has a title. You may have to do this for new spreadsheets that you create.

I found this out while goofing around with verbosity and it's worked great for what little I do with Excel. Hope this helps.

Tom

The table is already created in Excel. There are plenty columns and rows.
Hence, you do not need to create either columns or rows.

Entering Data: The cursor will be placed in the first column and first row
by default. In this column, you enter the column header for the first column in your table (ex. Client name). Then you either click tab or right arrow to get to the first row of the second column. Here you enter the column header
of the second column (ex. Date opened). Continue to do this till you have
entered all of your column headers (Client Name Date Open Race Income Type & Result Time). Then you click enter or arrow back to column A row 2 and start entering the data as you go. After you have reached the last column of your
table, click enter to enter the data into the next row. Hope this helps.

Okay,

But, I really don't understand how Excel is set up. I know there are rows
and Letters assigned to them, but how would I create the various columns and
enter the subsequent data?

Hi,,

You can either create a spreadsheet in Excel or a table in Word. Either of
them should not be hard.

For Excel:
Open a new Spreadsheet in Excel.
JAWS will read off the cell numbering (ex. A1 etc.)
You can move right and left; up and down using the arrow keys or you could
use the tab and shift+tab key to move left and right.

Thank you
Jyotsna

Subject: Using Excel and Jaws?

Hi,

I need to create a spreadsheet or table, not sure which, and I wondered if

I
can do this with Excel and Jaws 7.1! I've never used Excel before, so I'm
wondering how complicated this will be?

I need a document that shows the following:
Client Name Date Open Race Income Type & Result Time
Spent

Unit Cost
