No hans at vanderwaal.nl seems to be a subscriber to the list, and set up an
auto response whilst on holiday.
Unfortunatly any auto response system needs really to be set up to omit
mailing lists, fortunatly his auto response seems to only the first email
from particular addresses otherwise all hell can breakout if two members of
a mailing list have auto responses to all emails as a loop is set up.

Going back to Harriet original posting, it seems the spam wasn't sent to the
list but direct to the email address she uses solely for the mailing list,
so it appears that via most likely a compromised PC all? the address used to
post to this mailing list have been harvested by a spammer:-(
