Please help me better understand your issue here.
this is how to use the cdnusers.org forums the most efficiently:
1. on the log in screen check the box "remember me"
2. Subscribe to the PCB Design forum and any other forum in
which you are interested, by checking the box at the top of the
appropriate forum (after logging in) "Email me when someone posts to
this forum"
3. Wait to receive the next post directly to your email program
on your desktop, moments after it is posted. (no screening by Cadence or
any moderator)
4. Click on the link in the email you received. This will take
you directly to the website and to that post, you do not have to log in
since you clicked on "remember me" you are automatically logged in, even
if it is many days since you first logged in.
5. Click on "reply" and write your response in the window that
opens
6. Click "submit"
This seems to me to meet your criteria of "information comes to me"
Every post, or ALL of the information, comes directly to you from any
forum to which you are subscribed.
The subject line now includes the forum from which the post originates
and the thread subject of the post. This should allow for filtering.

Hi Michael,
I've looked at the interface on the cdn site, and it serves its purpose.
It may also serve many who choose to visit, as threads are consolidated
to subject matter.
I think that the main issue that people have with that site is that it
is a 'user goes to' site, rather than 'information comes to me' service
that freelists provides. And I mean ALL the information comes to me, and
I can filter it out any way I choose.
So, in my opinion, I don't think the majority of us actually use the
freelists interface. We receive and send through our email accounts. The
interface at freelists isn't even an issue of comparison.

Thanks Andy.. One final note.. Everything that has been discussed is
being looked at.. I take this very very seriously and will do whatever
is good for the user community and the PCB Forum. If it is staying on
Freelists.org then so be it but I still think everyone should at least
give the cdnusers.org a look see before we immediately say it will never
work.
Do you really think the web interface on Freelists.org is better than
the cdnusers.org forums ? Just wondering ?

Let me try to bring end to this thread. First of all, I think this forum
is great the way it is and works.
If CDNusers.org can provide the same functionality ... Great! If not ...
Well that is just to bad?
Logging on to a website to respond to an email is ridiculous. Ever heard
of email tools such as MS Outlook?
I don't want to tell the web team at Cadence what to do, but I suggest
that they take a look at Encartis (see freelists.org) if they are
seriously interested in making this work.
Anyway, if users like to create their own forum they will do so, no
matter how hard you try to prevent this.
Having said all that, I don't think it is in the best interest of the
users that this forum moves or is being closed.

Hello Andreas,
I have a few questions and I'll understand if you prefer not to answer:
Are you committed to (eventually) closing this forum?
If yes, will any amount of pleading by the users to keep it open change
your mind?
If not, would you consider passing on ownership to someone who wants to
keep it running?
