This is really more appropriate on the Glass Elevator list. 
There will *NOT* be a preferences server in R5.
If you get to do cool, new stuff, so do I. And do does everyone else.
And then we don't finish R1 until 2050. 

I don't like it any more than you do. But I think that it is the wise choice.
