I've used TridiaVNC and the original VNC from AT&T Labs (now spun off and called RealVNC -- see www.realvnc.com). TridiaVNC (the free version) hasn't seen any development work in awhile that I can tell, while the other VNC variants have made several enhancements. I had problems with TridiaVNC crashing on an AW51E, but RealVNC seems to work fine. The only caveat is that it can consume 5% or so of the AW's CPU at times, so having a lot of users hitting the AW using VNC may not be a good idea. VNC is usable over our VPN to a DSL-connected PC, but the latency is definitely detectable and annoying for long periods of use or heavy typing/editing. I can't imagine it's all that great over dial-up, but it probably beats X. How about TridiaVNC? Has anybody tried using the free package TridiaVNC with Foxboro? Does it work well over phone line connections?
