Hi Sheila, Am far from being an expert but you are more than welcome to contact me offlist and will be glad to help troubleshoot and maybe get to the bottom of your problem and since am also fairly new to the recording program, might be able to offer some tips. Do like the tune though and can definitely see potential in it; should be a fun reunion I'd think. Dave ----- Original Message ----- From: "Sheila Styron" <sheilastyron@xxxxxxxxxxxxx>

Mike, I can't argue with you. I can't see what any of those switches say, and anyone I have gotten over here to help, hasn't been able to figure it out either. I used to work with real engineers in a past life and am now stuck trying to tackle this foreign language as best I can and completely on my own. I am not even friends with anyone who does music where I live here in Kansas City. I do appreciate your suggestions and have saved allyour posts, planning to implement as best I can. I'm also working a day job which does take its toll. Again, thanks, and you're absolutely correct thatI don't even know the basics. These aren't merely quote suggestions unquote, but seriously logical ideas... I mean, you're trying to record stuff, do you actually know any of the fundamentals 'bout audio recording?I hope this doesn't sound too harsh, but, man, this is page 1 of the basics...----- Original Message ----- From: "Sheila Styron" <sheilastyron@xxxxxxxxxxxxx>To: <ddots-l@xxxxxxxxxxxxx> Sent: Sunday, August 07, 2011 6:41 AM Subject: [ddots-l] Re: Voice not recording on audio trackThanks for all your suggestions, everyone. Couldn't get the mic to work with the mixing board, so I got the level up in the Motif and used that instead.I have rough vocals and a rough mix now and will sleep on it before tryingto do more with it. Here's a link if anyone wants to give it a listen and offer suggestions. It's very schmaltzy, was asked to write it for a high school reunion. http://dl.dropbox.com/u/27095149/The%20Class%20of%2071.mp3 Sheila Styron 816-896-6552 sheilastyron@xxxxxxxxxxxxx -----Original Message----- From: ddots-l-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx [mailto:ddots-l-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx] On Behalf Of Mike Christer Sent: Saturday, August 06, 2011 3:39 PM To: ddots-l@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Subject: [ddots-l] Re: Voice not recording on audio track Apart from the Mackie not having the relevant channels' input selected to mike input, if the mixer has buss buttons adjacent to the faders, maybe one of these hasn't been selected/de-selected? l8r----- Original Message ----- From: Sheila Styron <mailto:sheilastyron@xxxxxxxxxxxxx>To: ddots-l@xxxxxxxxxxxxx ; MoAccess@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Sent: Saturday, August 06, 2011 4:17 PM Subject: [ddots-l] Voice not recording on audio track I'm working with the Motif and Sonar and have a mic just going in to an old Mackie mixing board which usually is fine. I've created an audio track and it is armed and not muted. The mic sounds live enough in my ear phones, and Motif sounds will record on to this track. However, the vocal isnt going there isn't recording as far as I can tell, no peak level. Cananyone tell me what I'm missing? thanks in advance for any suggestions youmay have.
