Cindy,Thank you so much for sharing your thoughts with me because your words give me some ideas about other things in which to look for things to do. I do love getting up when I want to and going out with friends and am so very thankful that I am not terribly house-bound. I have had, yet, another guide dog since ten months after the accident, and over the years with this dog guide, we have done more and more gradualy where I am finally really feeling physically well now.
Thank you so much for your ideas about the library work because I think I might actually be able to do something with those ideas. I need to start scanning seriously books for Bookshare. I have been mostly a taker of the paid service, but it has been absolutely wonderful. This is the way our NLS system should be set up as it would be less expensive to administer and cut down on the effort it takes to get things to us.
Thanks again, Cindy. Dianne and Primrose----- Original Message ----- From: "Grandma Cindy" <popularplace@xxxxxxxxx>

Plus you're helping others, only in a different way, by what you do here. I don't know if your accident keeps you housebound. If not, there are other volunteer oppportunities to help others, too. Louise, who is blind, volunteers at her library's used-bookstore. Our library has "grandparents" who read to young children, and if you can read Braille, or if you can storytell, that might be something to consider too. I love retirement. Except for my commitments at the library and our library's used-book store, I don't have to be anywhere are any particular time. Bookshare enables me to work anywhere at any time that I feel like it. I thoroughly enjoyed working, because I liked the work I was doing and the people I was working with, but having the freedom to most days, go to bed when I want (I'm a night owl) and get up when I want, and have lunch with friends at different restaurants, is lovely. smile Cindy -- I am not really sold onretirement, except that I read constantly, and I think my mission is to make up for all the years when I couldn't get much reading done. I feel I acquire much pleasure from this as well as knowledge, and perhaps, that is the way I am suppose to acquire more knowledge.
