Hi, Pam! I also have an Epson 1660, and I usually don't have problems with Grayscale. However, I am currently working on a book cover that is giving me some trouble. You may want to change the Resolution setting to 300 DPI. You can also try lowering the brightness setting a bit. I found that I got better results with this particular book by lowering the brightness setting to 50. I haven't played with the resolution setting yet, though. Anyway, once you've gotten it right, you may want to save the settings under a specific name, so that you can load them eaisly when you encounter this again. Take care!

Jana

Hi Julie,

I have an epson 1660. Don't know if the settings depend on the scanner
or not, but I am getting good scans with dynamic threshhold. Was just
surprised that I had to play with the settings as much. That's got me
curious though, wondering why gray scale doesn't seem to work for
mine.

Pam
