Settings are scanner dependent. Change your scanner and you will probably
have to change your scanner. It would be interesting to find out what your
default FineReader settings are and try to duplicate them with K1000 and see
what happens.

Finally got the cover to read, but had to put the brightness up to 65, and gray scale wouldn't work for me. I had to put the threshhold on dynamic. I don't know if the settings depend on individual scanners or not. Most seem to have the best luck with gray scale, but when I try using it, I either get garbage, or it tells me that the page is blank when it isn't.
