Have a Pac Mate and will use that display and just put the Pac Mate,
speaking part, away unless someone wants to buy it. It is an Omni, and I
would be willing to part with it minus the braille display for 1,000 dollars
or so, well open to offers! (smiles) Better for me than paying FS all those
dollars to keep the coverage on it. I can just keep coverage on the
display. I also keep my Focus 40 under warranty, bought unexpectedly for me
by the State when I had a sudden change in job, and now working out of my
house I use it for proofing work. I am a medical transcriptionist. By the
way, it wounds like a good idea to me. Does anyone know of a place I might
find a buyer, a list or a posting board? Thanks.
Reggie .

Hi Reggie,
So, what will you do for a braille display? I understand the braille
display for the PacMate can be purchased by itself. It hasn't been reviewed
to my knowledge, but Perkins sells a braille display and APH is coming out
with one soon. The price on the Perkins is $2,495, cheaper than any other
as far as I know.
I hope I'm not confusing anyone.

My opinion is that the easiest way to read braille is using a computer with
a braille display. I have used both a Braillenote and Pac Mate. The BN
gave me problems with file types not being compatible with the files needed.
The Pac Mate has destroyed files on me right and left. I am going back to a
Netbook and a braille display. I will have to use Word, which doesn't make
me happy, but the whole situation will be much more stable for me. JMO.

Hi everyone,
I just subscribed to this list yesterday. My question for braille users is
what equipment or technology do you find most effective for proofreading
books? Write me off list if you prefer.

Many thanks in advance,
