Thanks Monica. Thankfully, FSEdit doesn't get rid of page breaks. It just
doesn't appear to announce them for some strange reason. I am glad they
don't disappear altogether though since I do the bulk of my proofing on the
Pac Mate!

Hi Alyssa. You and I have the same version of Pac Mate. Mine belongs to my
employer, and I just started using it around 2 months ago. The lady who had
it before me may have done some adjustments to it that I don't know about.
This unit has been assigned to a total of 4 people over the years, and all 4
of us are power users and tend to tweak things as we use them. I don't have
factory defaults and don't really know which things my co-workers may have
adjusted in the past. I've been using Pocket Word but thought about trying
the FSEdit program to see if it will retain page breaks. The documentation I
have here isn't written very well at all, so I've been learning a lot by
trial and error. I wish I could be of more practical help.

Hi Monica. Wow, that is interesting! Are you using FSEdit or Pocket Word?
Furthermore, what firmware are you using on your Pac Mate? I have 4.1, but
if Omni recognizes page breaks, it might be reason enough for me to upgrade.

Hi Alyssa. You're right that the page break doesn't show in Braille, but
speech does announce the page break, on my unit at least. I strip headers
and number pages before transferring to the Pac Mate so I can make sure the
book is complete and that page breaks are present. It's also faster for me
to remove headers on my PC. The file I transfer to my Pac Mate is
essentially a book that's ready to be read straight through so I can correct
little scannos but enjoy the book itself.

There is not a setting to change to allow page breaks to be viewable on the
Pac Mate. However, I wonder if a little tweaking with the dictionary manager
would work like it does on the computer.

I am surprised the pagebreak fails to show up on the Pacmate. it shows up
fine on the Braille N Power. Are you sure changing a setting or something
might bring it up?
