May as well let the Jacques books in, excellent quality or not. They're no sillier than Harry Potter, Lord of the Rings, any number of books. Heck, a couple of the horror authors whose books I've scanned have essentially described their writing as a b-movie put to paper. Nothing wrong with silly, in controlled doses.

Made up words it may have. Cut off lines and junk characters abound. If someone really wants these silly books in the collection, let's have good scans.

Does seem to me there ought to be better children's writing out there
(judgment judgment).

Jacques writes children's fantasy, or maybe it's considered plain fantasy, but anyway, maybe the books have a lot of made-up words, thus explaining the low quality rating. Those ratings can be misleading if the book has a lot of uncommon words.

I don't recall submitting any books by Brian Jacques. You sure I'm the culprit?

It is probably a mistake on the part of the automator in this case. She is
using in house bookshare equipment and her scans are great. That is what
surprised me.
